ABOUT THE CLUB
The Figure Skating Club of Augusta (FSC of Augusta) is a member club of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA), which is the governing body of the sport of figure skating in the United States. The main objective of FSC of Augusta is to promote figure skating in the greater CSRA area.
The FSC of Augusta home rink is The Augusta Ice Sports Center, 1249 Augusta West Parkway, Augusta, GA 30909.
ORIGIN AND PURPOSE
The FSC of Augusta was founded on September 27, 1999.
The FSC of Augusta is dedicated to the promotion of amateur figure skating. The purposes of the club are: to encourage the instruction, practice and advancement of the members in any or all of the disciplines of figure skating; to encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters; and to carry out the general policies of the
USFSA.
We welcome skaters of all ages and skill levels.
ACTIVITIES AND COMPETITIONS
Among its many activities, the FSC of Augusta sponsors figure skating tests, which are a measurement of progress and determine an individual's competition level in the various branches of the sport: figures, free skating, moves in the field and ice dance. Test sessions are currently held three times per year, and the number of sessions will increase in proportion to demand.
Competitions on every level are another principal incentive for figure skaters to train, develop and improve their skills. By ascending the competition "ladder", competitors registered with the USFSA ultimately may gain entry into the Regional, Sectional and National Championships of the United States. These competitions are the steps to ascend to qualify for International competitions, including the World Championships and Olympic Winter Games. These Regional, Sectional and National Championships of the United States are sanctioned by the USFSA and are conducted by USFSA Member Clubs.
Club members also participate in ice shows, exhibitions,
awards banquets, social gatherings and fundraisers.
Because the club caters to skaters of all ages and
ability levels we are able to provide a positive and
productive atmosphere in which families can participate.
